Preaching + Worship
W-3.0301 Theology of Proclamation
The Scriptures bear witness to the Word of God, revealed most fully in Jesus Christ, the Word who “became flesh and lived among us” (John 1:14). Where the Word is read and proclaimed, Jesus Christ the living Word is present by the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, reading, hearing, preaching, and affirming the Word are central to Christian worship and essential to the Service for the Lord’s Day.”
Ashley’s messages are always tailored to encourage, uplift and inspire groups to consider how they might reclaim their agency to serve the world, live lives they are proud of, and walk tall to serve Christ, our Lord. She enjoys the beauty of well-crafted liturgy, hymns sung by choirs raised up together in unison, and a traditional worship style that honors our Presbyterian roots but also welcomes those who are new to the faith.
Outside of preaching, she loves to speak to both Christian and non-Christian groups about reconciliation, peace-building and interfaith work. She’s passionate about encouraging Christians to build bridges in their communities to those who think and believe differently. (F-3.0105)
Christian Meditation + Faith Formation
Professionally trained as a Meditation Leader, Ashley calls upon her love for the Holy Spirit to prayerfully lead group meditations based in Scripture. Stillness is a great way to re-calibrate our stressed out nervous systems that plague us in this era of fast news and technology driven connections.
Ashley preaches the practice of slowing down, living intentionally and practicing Sabbath.
Ashley enjoys using creative elements such as writing, art, hiking and even cooking as intentional methods of connection to God in her workshops and faith formation classes. Her classes are all Scripturally based, begin with a particular verse to ruminate out, and allow for creative and personal exploration of how God and Christ’s Love is revealed to us. F-3.0104
Christian Education
Educated at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas, Ashley found Seminary to be an incredible learning experience and tries to provide mentally stimulating classes because she believes Christian education deserves our time and attention and is a lifelong pursuit.
Ashley uses a scholarly approach to biblical study looking at context, language, theology and multiple perspectives when trying to grow in relationship with Scripture. She loves to teach adult Sunday school classes.
She works extremely hard to ensure that her classes are accessible to all levels of Christian study, so that those new to the faith can feel as included as those who have been studying for years. View her Youtube here.
